IN   RECOGNITION
 
 
WHEREAS,      Chief Craig Matherne is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Norco for over 40 years with his wife Cindy.  They are the proud parents of Christy, Brandy, and Craig, Jr.; and,
 
WHEREAS,      Chief Matherne worked for Shell Chemical for over 30 years and has devoted 39 years of fire service with the Norco Volunteer Fire Department where he joined in the early 1970's.  He is a second generation firefighter after his late father Herbert Matherne; and,
 
WHEREAS,      Chief Matherne's certifications include Hazmat Tech, First Responder, Fire Fighter I, and Adjunct Instructor at Louisiana State University and Texas A&M; and,
 
WHEREAS,      throughout his fire service career, Chief Matherne has served as Vice-President and Board Member on the Board of Directors and Assistant Chief since the early 1980's until his election as Fire Chief; and,
 
WHEREAS,      although Chief Matherne has retired as Fire Chief he remains a member of the Norco Volunteer Fire Department, continuing his dedication and service to the residents of St. Charles Parish.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
