RESOLUTION NO. __________
Title
A resolution asking the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to extend the 45 MPH Speed Limit on Highway 90 from 12125 Highway 90 to 400 feet East of Willowdale Boulevard.
Body
WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the Department of Transportation and Development to provide for the safe and orderly movement of traffic on State Highways; and,
WHEREAS, a reduction in highway speed in this area would facilitate a reduction in accidents and near-accidents and the severity of these accidents; and,
WHEREAS, for the safety of St. Charles Parish residents and all motorists who travel through this area of our Community, the St. Charles Parish Governing Authority is requesting the implementation of a lower speed limit in this area.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby ask the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to extend the 45 MPH Speed Limit on Highway 90 from 12125 Highway 90 to 400 feet East of Willowdale Boulevard.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Governor Bobby Jindal, Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Mr. William Ankner, Department of Transportation and Development Assistant District Administrator of Operations Mr. R. H. "Buzzy" Wegner, Department of Transportation and Development Legislative Liaison Mr. Roy Quezaire, Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., and Representative Ernest D. Wooton.
