A resolution stating St. Charles Parish's interest in participation in the Louisiana Enterprise Zone Program and designation of Enterprise Zones.

WHEREAS, the Louisiana Enterprise Zone Act La. R.S. 51:1781-1791 offers significant incentives for economic development in the State; and,
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Department of Economic Development has designated certain 2000 Census Tracts and Block Groups in the State as Enterprise Zone eligible based on demographic and economic factors; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish of St. Charles requests that the following Census Tract and Block Group be designated as Enterprise Zones in lieu of the original qualified Census Tract and Block Group; and,
WHEREAS, Parish of St. Charles states this change is in agreement with their Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy; and,
WHEREAS, this change is being made for Entergy, Louisiana, LLC, for its Little Gypsy facility expansion; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Louisiana Enterprise Zone Program requirements the Parish of St. Charles agrees:
1. To participate in the Enterprise Zone Program.
2. To assist the department in evaluating progress made in any Enterprise Zone within its jurisdiction.
3. To REBATE all applicable local sales/use taxes on the purchase of eligible construction materials, machinery, and equipment purchased for this project and used by a business permanently on that site.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL do hereby request the new zone location shown below be designated by the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry as an Enterprise Zone in lieu of the original zone location.
