IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Luling Volunteer Fire Department is beginning its 50th year of dedicated service to the citizens of St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, Luling Volunteer Fire Department started out with a single station, a single engine with an outdoor siren to alert responders, fire phones ringing and answered in member's homes, an active ladies auxiliary to help with fund raising events, and of course the roadway "boot shake", a necessity; and,
WHEREAS, present day, the department has grown to four stations, Station 21, located on Paul Maillard Road, Station 22, St. Anthony Street, Station 23, Ellen Street in Ama, and Station 24, Dufresne Loop in Luling; a training facility, six engines, one ladder truck, two service units, and one heavy rescue unit; and,
WHEREAS, Luling Volunteer Fire Department was the first department in the parish to obtain a Public Protection Class 3 Fire Rating which decreased the fire insurance rates for residents and business owners of the district. Members are proactive not only in providing fire service, but developing Emergency Medical Technicians to respond to medical incidents. They continue to develop their paid staff while working to enhance their volunteer response; and,
WHEREAS, Luling Volunteer Fire Department members spend long hours taking care of the stations, apparatus, equipment, and in training; hours they spend away from their home and families to protect life, property, and the environment in St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, Luling Volunteer Fire Department continues to enhance the quality of service to residents of St. Charles Parish and live up to the motto "Loyal to Our Duty" - We serve our community with pride and dedication.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer ...
