Title
A resolution to commit the required local matching funds for the FY 2005 Environmental Protection Agency Grant funding of Wastewater System Improvements administered by the South Central Planning and Development Commission.
Body
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2005 Appropriations Act for the Environmental Protection Agency provides funding for the South Central Planning and Development Commission to use for water and/or wastewater infrastructure improvements in St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. James, and St. Bernard Parishes and the cities of New Iberia and Morgan City; and,
WHEREAS, the grant is a fifty-five/forty-five percent matching grant program with a total federal share of $481,100.00 and local match of $393,528.00; and,
WHEREAS, the grant has been divided between the named communities; and,
WHEREAS, the federal funding amount for St. Charles Parish is $100,001.00 which requires a match of $81,819.00 for a total of $181,820.00; and,
WHEREAS, this amount would include the Parish share of the cost for creation of a feasibility analysis of wastewater needs of the West Bank of the three Parish River Region in the amount of $50,000.00 ($27,500.00 federal and $22,500.00 local), $6,829.00 grant administration costs ($3,756.00 federal and $3,073.00 local) and $124,991.00 for implementation of a local wastewater project ($68,745.00 federal and $56,246.00 local).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby commit to the local match of $81,819.00 for the FY 2005 EPA Special Appropriation Grant administered by the South Central Planning and Development Commission.
