IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Richard Bordner and his wife Joanne are residents of Paradis, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, Richard Bordner retired in February from the Paradis Volunteer Fire Department but he'll never stop being a firefighter; and,
WHEREAS, Richard Bordner has spent 40 years of his life in firefighting service. He started his firefighting career in 1962 as a Volunteer Firefighter in Harrisburg, Pa., and carried that career into the Navy retiring in 1980; and,
WHEREAS, Richard Bordner moved to Louisiana in 1981 as a Fire Protection Training Consultant at Waterford 3's Steam Electric Station in Taft working closely with the Hahnville Volunteer Fire Department; and,
WHEREAS, Richard Bordner earned a Fire Science Degree from Harrisburg Area Community College and in 1990 joined the Paradis Volunteer Fire Department; and,
WHEREAS, Richard Bordner has held a number of positions, including President of the St. Charles Firemen's Association and President of the Paradis Volunteer Fire Department. As President, Richard saw completion of Station 62 on Barber Road and several major equipment purchases; and,
WHEREAS, Richard Bordner has had many experiences during his career but the most memorable was helping with the delivery of the Spirit of Louisiana Fire Engine to New York. The trip, the presentation, and the opportunity to tour ground zero was a very humbling experience. Richard has given so much to his community and he urges everyone to give something back to their community and encourages you to get involved with the fire service in your area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
