Title
An ordinance of the Parish of St. Charles providing that the Code of Ordinances, Parish of St. Charles, be amended by revising Section 13, Article IX, Clean Indoor Air, to restrict smoking in the Third Floor Jail Area of the Courthouse; Second District Office, New Sarpy; and the Third District Office, Boutte.
Body
WHEREAS, in keeping with the National trend to provide a smoke-free environment for workers, the Parish Council desires to restrict smoking in the Third Floor Jail Area of the Courthouse; Second District Office, New Sarpy; and the Third District Office, Boutte; and,
WHEREAS, cigarette smoke is affecting the health of employees; and,
WHEREAS, some insurance companies have already increased monthly premiums if smoking is allowed on the premises; and,
WHEREAS, sidestream tobacco smoke has been proven to cause heart disease, cancer, and premature births.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Article IX, Clean Indoor Air, Section 13.657 be amended so that such section shall read as follows:

The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the ordinance was declared adopted this day of , 2001, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
