IN   RECOGNITION
WHEREAS,      On August 18, 1953, the East Side St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department was incorporated; and,
WHEREAS,      the East Side St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department is the oldest continuously incorporated volunteer fire department in the Parish which initially provided fire protection for the entire east bank of St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS,      the first fire station was located at the East Bank Waterworks, the New Sarpy Station was built in the early 1960's, the Norco and St. Rose Volunteer Fire Departments spawned from the original department, the Ormond Central Station was built in 1983, and the Destrehan Station was built in 1992; and,
WHEREAS,      the East Side St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department currently is staffed by 40 Volunteers, four engines, one ladder, two rescue trucks, and various other equipment; and,
WHEREAS,      the East Side St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department is proudly looking towards future growth and community needs with the construction of a new station in New Sarpy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
EAST SIDE ST. CHARLES
VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

created in 1807 from the county of the
