Title
An Ordinance amending Section 16-27 of the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances to adjust certain Grass Cutting and Clean-Up charges to offset increase in actual cost of the work performed.
Body
WHEREAS, Article III of the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances addresses high grass and weeds; and,
WHEREAS, during the regular course of events, it becomes necessary for the St. Charles Parish Planning and Zoning Department to cut grass or clean property per Article II of the St. Charles Parish Code; and,
WHEREAS, the actual cost of performing the necessary clean-ups per the St. Charles Parish Code has risen, but has not been adjusted for in the code; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to clearly define the time and manner in which the fees should be adjusted annually.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Section 16-27 of the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to adjust certain Grass Cutting and Clean-Up charges to offset increase in actual cost of the work performed.
SECTION II. That Section 16-27 of the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 16-27 Abatement by parish
If the required work is not done by the property owner or his agent within fifteen (15) days after receipt of written or published notice, the parish may proceed to have the necessary work done either by parish employees or an independent contractor. The owner will be charged a fee of two and one-half cent ($0.025) per square foot of the lot cleaned. The contractor's fee for performing these services shall be at the rate of two cents (0.02) per square foot of the lot cleaned. In the event a mini-cleanup is required prior to performing the above services, a fee of forty dollars (40.00) per mini-cleanup plus actual disposal fees will be assessed, not to exceed (10) mini-cleanups per property in violation.
