Title
An ordinance to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement between The Pontchartrain Levee District and St. Charles Parish to cooperatively pursue drainage conveyance system and pumps for the East Bank Hurricane Protection Levee.
Body
WHEREAS, said project is nearing completion of the "first lift" which will begin to provide flood protection to the East Bank of St. Charles Parish from storm surges in Lake Pontchartrain; and,
WHEREAS, said project includes the construction of five flow through drainage structures, which will be closed during storm events; and,
WHEREAS, the closing of these structures will create severe flooding of highways and residential areas from rainfall within the leveed area; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Pontchartrain Levee District and St. Charles Parish to work cooperatively to pursue the inclusion of pumps in the Levee.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Intergovernmental Agreement between The Pontchartrain Levee District and St. Charles Parish is hereby approved.
SECTION II. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said agreement on behalf of St. Charles Parish.

The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the ordinance was declared adopted this day of , 2001, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
