Title
A resolution to support the efforts of the Parish President to implement the results of the revised Merit System in 2007.
Body
WHEREAS, the 2006 Budget did not include merit raises due to budget concerns in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; and,
WHEREAS, all civil service employees were given a 3.5% cost of living increase on December 31, 2005 and a 2% one-time non-annualized salary adjustment on August 25 2006; and,
WHEREAS, on August 26, 2006, the Civil Service Pay Plan increased the starting pay of all civil services positions by 8%; and,
WHEREAS, on December 30, 2006, all civil service employees were given a 3.5% cost of living increase and on February 9, 2007 a one-time non-annualized salary adjustment of $1,000.00 was given; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish President and the Parish Council that Merit raises be re-instated; and,
WHEREAS, a Committee was formed to review and revise the Performance Evaluation Process; and,
WHEREAS, the revised Performance Evaluation Process is now being implemented.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby express our support to the Parish President in his effort to implement merit raises in 2007.
