IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Eric Jaron Jones is a resident of St Charles Parish and grew up in St. Rose, Louisiana with his parents, Eddie Jones, Jr. and Tiffany Jones, and five siblings; and,
WHEREAS, Eric was Student of the Year at St. Rose Elementary and Albert Cammon School and was also named Student of the Year at Destrehan High School; and,
WHEREAS, Eric played football on the Destrehan Fighting Wildcats team, was a Wildcat Mentor, member of the Interact Club, Fundraising Vice President of the Beta Club, Vice President of the National Honor Society, Executive Board Secretary of Student Council, and a Student Advocate on the Superintendent's Advisory Council; and,
WHEREAS, Eric's community involvement includes being a volunteer at Second Harvest Food Bank, Ormond Nursing Facility, Children's Hospital, and an Advocate on the Bayer Community Advisory Panel; and,
WHEREAS, Eric plays the violin and is CPR certified, he has many notable academic achievements and skills. He is a three-year Patrick F. Taylor Scholar, honor roll student, Tulane Book Award winner, QuestBridge College Prep Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction, National College Match Finalist, LRA Young Authors School Winner, St. Charles Parish Young Authors Winner, Horatio Alger Association State Scholar, Gates Scholar, Ron Brown Scholar and National Merit Semi-Finalist; and,
WHEREAS, Eric is a 2021 Destrehan High School Graduate and was recently named as a 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholar and
will be attending Stanford University in the Fall to study Biomechanical Engineering on a Pre-Med track.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
