IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Art Guild was established in September of 1968 by eight residents hoping to build community interest in the arts. Their ongoing mission is to foster camaraderie among budding and professional artists of all ages while improving the area’s quality of life by offering affordable educational experience, exhibition opportunities, and personal enrichment activities in the visual arts; and,
WHEREAS, September of 2018 marked the 50th Anniversary of the St. Charles Art Guild. Over the course of these 50 years, Guild members have volunteered their expertise to local students in primary grades, created visual art activities for seniors through the parish’s Council on Aging program, created a weeklong all day summer camp for 1st - 3rd grade students, which ended in the 2000’s, they provide national artist’s workshops for Guild members and guests, and offer one-day fairs for adults where they could experience quality art activities; and,
WHEREAS, the members of the St. Charles Art Guild display their art at Ochsner/Kenner and Luling Hospitals, and they hold a yearly showcase at the Crescent City Brewhouse in New Orleans; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Art Guild will celebrate their 50th Anniversary on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT do hereby recognize
ST. CHARLES ART GUILD
on their
50TH ANNIVERSARY

“German Coast”, a parish of
unprecedented economic and social
development, known for its
hospitality, rural living and sporting
opportunities… with the added
distinction of being located
on both sides of the
Mighty Mississippi River.
