IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Blake Estevez, resident of Destrehan, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish, is the son of Pedro and Carroll Estevez; and,
WHEREAS, Blake, a 2009 graduate from Destrehan High School, has 2 years of service as a Professional Firefighter with St. John the Baptist Parish, has served the residents of Destrehan as a Volunteer Fireman for over 4 years, and, currently is a Coroner's Investigator for St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, Blake joined the East St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department as a Firefighter in 2009 at the age of 18; he was appointed Lieutenant in December 2011, and was hired as a Professional Firefighter for St. John the Baptist Parish in 2010; and,
WHEREAS, throughout Blake's career as a Volunteer Fireman, he has continued to serve the community with Fire Safety Education to area schools, mock DWI events, and organizing and participating in gift drives and holiday events for area needy families; and,
WHEREAS, Blake is a graduate of Louisiana State University Fire and Emergency Training Institute Academy where he became certified in Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Driver Operator, and First Responder. He continued his training in the fall of 2011 to receive certification from the Louisiana State Police as a Hazardous Material Technician and a member of the River Parish Rapid Assessment Team (PRAT); and,
WHEREAS, in 2011, Blake joined the St. Charles Parish Coroner's Office where he served as a Coroner's Assistance and is now an Investigator; and,
WHEREAS, Blake is currently enrolled at Delgado Community College pursuing his EMT degree; and,
WHEREAS, on March 10, 2012, Blake was commended on his outstanding public service within the River Parish Region and on June 9, 2012, he was recognized as "Fi...
