Title
A resolution seeking nominations for appointments to the Board of Commissioners of the River Parishes Transit Authority.
Body
WHEREAS, Act 1371 of the 1999 Legislature amended and reenacted R.S. 48:1603 and 1604 (A), (C), (E), (G), and (J) relative to transportation, and the River Parishes Transit Authority, provided procedures for the appointment of the seven (7) members of the Board of Commissioners; and,
WHEREAS, one member from St. Charles Parish shall be appointed by the Parish Council; and,
WHEREAS, one member to be appointed by the Parish Council from a list of three nominees submitted by the St. Charles Business Associations, one nominee submitted by the River Area Council of the New Orleans Regional Chamber of Commerce, and three nominees submitted by the Louisiana AFL-CIO; and,
WHEREAS, one At-Large member representing the Local Workforce Investment Board and appointed by a majority vote of the three Parishes; and,
WHEREAS, each Commissioner appointed by the St. Charles Parish Council must be domiciled within the Parish except for the one member appointed representing the Workforce Investment Board who must be domiciled within the State; and,
WHEREAS, all Commissioners shall be subject to confirmation by the Senate; initial terms shall begin September 15, 1999.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION I. Correspondence shall be forwarded to
(a) St. Charles Business Association
(b) River Area Council of the New Orleans Regional Chamber of Commerce
(c) Louisiana AFL-CIO
(d) Local Workforce Investment Board
requesting submission of their respective nominees to the River Parishes Transit Authority as outlined in Act 1371. All nominees should be submitted to the Parish Council Office by September 1, 1999.
