    IN   RECOGNITION

WHEREAS,      on January 26, 2005, as a result of an investigation initiated by the St. Charles Parish Narcotics Officers, over 56,000 tablets of Ecstasy were seized, $20,000 in cash, and several semi-automatic firearms; and,
WHEREAS,      several individuals were arrested and indicted by the Federal Grand Jury; and,
WHEREAS,      the case was initiated in St. Charles Parish with our deputies making undercover buys of the drug, expanding the operation beyond Parish borders, which included Officers from DEA, Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, and the New Orleans Police Department; and,
WHEREAS,      the success of this operation prevented an enormous amount of a dangerous drug with a value of over a half million dollars from reaching the streets of St. Charles Parish and the Metropolitan area and took out of circulation Major Drug Traffickers.  The removal of these illegal drugs possibly saved the lives of young people who might have ultimately used these drugs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
