IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, on April 25, 2004, St. Charles Parish was hit by a devastating rain storm paralyzing several areas of the Parish with flood waters; and,
WHEREAS, over 300 homes were overcome with flood waters, some with as much as 18 inches affecting the lives of our Residents, many of them our Senior Residents; and,
WHEREAS, stepping up as good neighbors Shell, Motiva, and Valero contributed many long man hours helping the affected areas in a clean-up campaign, going door to door doing whatever was necessary to assist the residents of the affected areas; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Department supplied many long man hours helping to remove the debris from property to the curb side for disposal pick-up; and,
WHEREAS, the local Red Cross Agency supplied clean-up kits, food, drinks, and supported the area residents affected by the flood waters and to the clean-up crews; and,
WHEREAS, special thanks and recognition should be extended to Shell, Motiva, Valero, and the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Department for their support and compassion shown to the residents during this hardship. Without their help and support the clean-up task would have taken a larger toll on the community. Their unselfish support should be a source of pride and admiration by all.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute, special thanks, and recognition to
