IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Cole Grieshop is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Destrehan, Louisiana with his parents Vance and Patricia Grieshop and brother Kyle; and,
WHEREAS, Cole, the 2016 Class Valedictorian at Destrehan High School, held a 4.0 GPA, scored a 33 on the ACT, earned a perfect score of 36 on the writing portion, earned a perfect score on the American History End-of-Course test; and,
WHEREAS, at Destrehan High School, Cole was the President of the National Honor Society, creator and instructor of the school's Advanced Placement Preparation Tutoring program, Captain of the Gifted Debate Team, and defensive back on the school's soccer team; and,
WHEREAS, Cole's accomplishments are numerous and he is very active in the community, completing more than 400 hours of documented volunteer work with special needs individuals. In December 2015 he published a novel - "What Tides Offer Islands"; and,
WHEREAS, Cole will attend Tulane University on the Deans' Honor Scholarship with plans to pursue a Chemical Engineering Degree before pursuing a career in Environmental Law; and,
WHEREAS, on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, Cole was named 2016 Louisiana High School Student of the Year at a ceremony held at the Louisiana State Museum in Baton Rouge. Cole is the first student in St. Charles Parish to receive this honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
