Title
An ordinance to declare a Public Emergency to authorize stabilization of the canal in Ormond Trace Subdivision.
Body
WHEREAS, it is imperative that the Parish proceed on an emergency basis to stop further erosion of private property by stabilizing the drainage canal in Ormond Trace Subdivision abutting and adjacent to the 175 foot servitude outlined on the attached map; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Parish Council to take necessary action to proceed with this project on an Emergency Basis in accordance with the Home Rule Charter and the laws of the State of Louisiana.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Parish Council hereby declares a Public Emergency and authorizes all action necessary to stop the erosion of private property by immediately stabilizing the drainage canal in Ormond Trace Subdivision abutting and adjacent to the 175 foot right of way outlined on the attached map; and,
SECTION II. That the Department of Public Works, the Department of Legal Services, and the Department of Finance are hereby authorized to immediately proceed with any and all necessary paperwork to construct and complete the stabilization project; and,
SECTION III. That the Parish President is authorized to execute documents on behalf of St. Charles Parish to carryout this project; and,
SECTION IV. That the Parish Council approves the use of funds not to exceed $300,000 for this emergency; and,
SECTION V. That the Parish Administration shall immediately solicit proposals for professional engineering services to contract for the design of the complete rehabilitation and permanent stabilization of the Ormond Trace Canal.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby to declare a Public Emergency to authorize stabilization of the said canal in Ormond Trace Subdivision.
