Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development to install signal lights at the intersection of U.S. Highway 90 westbound and LA 182 in Raceland.
Body
WHEREAS, U.S. Highway 90 and LA 182 both serve as major thoroughfares for many motorists, not only local but regional and beyond, traveling at high speeds leaving travelers vulnerable as they navigate without signal guidance; and,
WHEREAS, this dangerous intersection is heavily traveled, congested, and is frequently the site of automobile accidents; and,
WHEREAS, due to the increased vehicular traffic, as well as the accident fatalities and injuries recorded at this intersection, it is urgent for the State of Louisiana to install signal lights at U.S. 90 westbound and LA 182; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation & Development is responsible for taking the necessary steps needed to reduce and eliminate the hazardous driving conditions at the intersection of U.S. Highway 90 westbound and LA 182.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development install signal lights at the intersection of U.S. Highway 90 westbound and LA 182 in Raceland.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation & Development Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Department of Transportation & Development District Engineer Administrator Chris Morvant, Senator Gary L. Smith, Jr., Representative Gregory A. Miller, Representative Bryan Fontenot, Representative Joseph A. Orgeron, Lafourche Parish President Archie Chaisson, III, and Lafourche Councilman Terry Arabie.
