Title
An ordinance to amend the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances, Chapter 6, Buildings and Building Regulations, Article II. Building and Related Construction Codes, Section 6-15 (a), to change the demolition permit fee from $100 to “n/a”, meaning no fee.
Body
WHEREAS, staff review building permit fees regularly to ensure that they cover the cost of required reviews, but are not so high that they are a burden on residents and property owners; and,
WHEREAS, the demolition process involves calling for a DOTTIE, obtaining a demolition permit, disconnecting utilities, and disposing of debris responsibly, but does not require a costly review by permit staff or the building official; and,
WHEREAS, when a resident or property owner demolishes a building, there is often an immediate improvement in the public health, safety, and welfare.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances, Chapter 6, Buildings and Building Regulations, Article II. Building and Related Construction Codes, Section 6-15 (a) Permit, plan review, and inspection fees by type. Line 30 is hereby amended as follows with new text underlined and deleted text in strikethrough:
