Title
A resolution approving and authorizing St. Charles Parish to submit a grant application for the United States Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service 2019 Housing Preservation Grant Program.
Body
WHEREAS, the Rural Housing Service, an agency within the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development is accepting grant applications for the 2019 Housing Preservation Grant Program opportunity; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish established a Housing Preservation Program with funds awarded from the 2017 Housing Preservation Grant opportunity and continued the program with funds received from the 2018 award; and,
WHEREAS, through the Housing Preservation Program, the Department of Community Services has provided repairs and rehabilitation to 17 dwellings within St. Charles Parish owned and occupied by low and very low-income residents; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish is applying for 2019 Hazard Preservation Grant funding to assist in the continuation of the Housing Preservation Program; and,
WHEREAS, the Rural Housing Service application requires support from the local governing body to secure approval and authorization for the application for grant funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby approve and authorize St. Charles Parish to submit a grant application for the 2019 Housing Preservation Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said application and to act on behalf of St. Charles Parish in all matters pertaining to this project and subsequent grant award.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the resolution was declared adopted this day of , 2019, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
