Title
A resolution requesting that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to install “Flashing Beacons” to the existing “Traffic Signal Light Ahead” signs on the up ramp of I-310 approaching LA 18 (River Road) in Luling.
Body
WHEREAS, according to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Chapter 1A the purpose of traffic control devices, as well as the principles for their use, is to promote highway safety and efficiency by providing for the orderly movement of all road users on streets and highways throughout the Nation; and,
WHEREAS, I-310 is a very heavily traveled roadway; and,
WHEREAS, the installation of these flashing beacons would warn motorists of the traffic signal light ahead; and,
WHEREAS, by not installing the flashing beacons in this area to notify motorists of the approaching red light creates the potential for a dangerous situation; and,
WHEREAS, for the safety of St. Charles Parish residents and all motorists who travel through this area of our Community, the St. Charles Parish Governing Authority is requesting the implementation of “Flashing Beacons” to the existing “Traffic Signal Light Ahead” signs on the up ramp of I-310 approaching LA 18 (River Road) in this area; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne is favorable to the installation of the requested warning signal.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development install “Flashing Beacons” to the existing “Traffic Signal Light Ahead” signs on the up ramp of I-310 approaching LA 18 (River Road) in Luling.
