Title
An ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinances to adjust the Motor Vehicle Office transaction fee to three dollars ($3.00).
Body
WHEREAS,      Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:429 authorizes local governing authorities to levy a fee for each service or transaction carried out as an operation of an office of motor vehicle field office that is not fully funded by the State; and,
WHEREAS,      St. Charles Parish pays all cost for the office space, utilities, janitorial services, insurance, and other cost associated with the Hahnville Field Office; and,
WHEREAS,      said office operations have outgrown the available space provided and it is necessary to secure additional office space to better meet the needs of the office; and,
WHEREAS,      it is the desire of the Parish Council to adjust the transaction fee from two dollars to three dollars to help offset the expenses of said office.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I.      That Section 15-21. (a) of the Code of Ordinances of St. Charles Parish is hereby amended to read as follows:
(a)      In accordance with R.S. 32:429 there is hereby levied a fee in the amount of three dollars ($3.00) for each service or transaction carried out by the Hahnville Field Office of Motor Vehicles, Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.
