Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development perform a traffic study to determine the feasibility of the installation of a signal light at the intersection of Airline Drive (LA 61) and Evangeline Road, Montz.
Body
WHEREAS, Evangeline Road is the primary means of traveling to Airline Drive for residents of Montz traveling to and from their jobs; and,
WHEREAS, Evangeline Road is used daily by the school buses transporting students to and from school; and,
WHEREAS, with the open span of roadway from the traffic signal lights at Apple Street in Norco and McReine Road in Montz, and with the enormous amount of traffic traveling at high rates of speed it has created a very dangerous and difficult situation for vehicles entering Evangeline Road from Airline Drive and vehicles turning onto Airline Drive from Evangeline Road, causing a tremendous traffic back-up on Evangeline Road; and,
WHEREAS, large trucks use this span of roadway to access the Bonnet Carre' Spillway; and,
WHEREAS, because of the inconspicuous location of Evangeline Road when traveling east bound, traffic must slow down causing a potentially hazardous condition for east bound flow.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development perform a traffic study to determine the feasibility of the installation of a signal light at the intersection of Airline Drive (LA 61) and Evangeline Road, Montz.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, and Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr.
