Title
An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a Contract for Engineering Services with BURK-KLEINPETER, INC. for necessary professional engineering services associated with Parish Project No. P080703 Cajun Paradise Levee Compliance Order.
Body
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council desires to have the following described project undertaken:
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Engineering services for Parish Project No. P080703 Cajun Paradise Levee Compliance Order. The service will include but will not be limited to serving as Owner's professional engineering representative for the Project, providing professional engineering consultation and advice, and furnishing customary civil, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering services and construction engineering and inspection; and,
WHEREAS, St Charles parish is currently under a compliance order to implement interim measures to maintain the integrity of the wetlands contained within the Cajun Paradise Levee and other possible requirements such as permitting, mitigation, and levee re-alignment; and,
WHEREAS, because of the complexity of the project, it will be implemented in the following phases so as to better control project timing and cost:
Phase I Implementation of the approved interim measures including final design and construction.
Phase II Develop all necessary data to submit an after the fact permit.
Phase III Implementation of any required wetland mitigation or levee re-alignment.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the contract for Engineering Services between BURK-KLEINPETER, INC. and the Parish of St. Charles is hereby approved.
SECTION II. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of the Parish of St. Charles.
