Title
An ordinance to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement by and between St. Charles Parish and the Lafourche Basin Levee District for the continued funding of the West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee-Alternative Alignment.
Body
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Constitution and the Local Service Law of Louisiana allow for intergovernmental agreements among political subdivisions of the State of Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish, in conjunction with the Lafourche Basin Levee District has been working on the West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 99-8-4 on August 2, 1999 mandating that the proposed Parish Alignment for the West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee be abandoned; and,
WHEREAS, said action requires that the Parish prepare and submit new data, including permit applications, land surveys, ownership information, topographic surveys, archaeological surveys, environmental surveys, geotechnical investigations, engineering, etc.; and
WHEREAS, the current cost estimate to continue this project in 2000 is $360,000.00.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Intergovernmental Agreement, State of Louisiana, Parish of St. Charles, by and between St. Charles Parish and the Lafourche Basin Levee District is hereby approved.
SECTION II. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said Agreement on behalf St. Charles Parish.

The foregoing Ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the Ordinance was declared adopted this day of , 2000, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
