An ordinance requesting authorization for St. Charles Parish to award a Geotechnical Service Professional Services Agreement to Eustis Engineering Services, LLC for the Magnolia Ridge Levee Project to conduct soil boring investigations for the Magnolia Ridge Levee in St. Charles Parish, SCP Project # P080905-6A.

WHEREAS, the Magnolia Ridge Levee is an integral part of the West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee System in St. Charles Parish, as well as the Lafourche Basin Levee District's (LBLD) Hurricane Protection Plan alignment proposed to the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority; and,
WHEREAS, soil boring investigations are needed to evaluate the soils at the levee location and provide data needed for design of the Magnolia Ridge Levee Project; and,
WHEREAS, the soil boring data is needed for potential certification of the foundation of the Magnolia Ridge Levee to FEMA in an effort to provide data to reduce future flood insurance premiums under the current remapping process; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish has received a proposal from Eustis Engineering Services, LLC dated April 2, 2014, for Geotechnical Services for the Magnolia Ridge Levee for a Reduced Fee by utilizing previous data soil boring data collected by Eustis Engineering Services, LLC for a cost savings of $47,584.00; and,
WHEREAS, Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc., Mark K. Roberts, P.E., the St. Charles Parish Consulting Engineer, has reviewed the Magnolia Ridge Levee Geotechnical Services Proposal and has recommended the contract be awarded to the Eustis Engineering Services, LLC for Geotechnical Services for the Magnolia Ridge Levee, Eustis Engineering Services, LLC, in the amount of $255,238.00.
