Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development perform a traffic study to determine the feasibility of the installation of a flashing signal light at the intersection of Barton Avenue (LA 3060) and River Road (LA 18) in Luling.
Body
WHEREAS, these Louisiana Highways are heavily traveled roadways; and,
WHEREAS, these Louisiana Highways could be used as evacuation routes; and,
WHEREAS, because of the curved design of LA 18, vehicles traveling East on LA18 toward LA 3060 have a blind spot, causing a hazardous situation; and,
WHEREAS, this location has had numerous accidents, the latest on September 13, 2009.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development perform a traffic study to determine the feasibility of the installation of a flashing signal light at the intersection of Barton Avenue (LA 3060) and River Road (LA 18) in Luling.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Governor Bobby Jindal, Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Mr. William Ankner, Department of Transportation and Development Assistant District Administrator of Operations Mr. R. H. "Buzzy" Wegner, Department of Transportation and Development Legislative Liaison Mr. Roy Quezaire, Department of Transportation and Development Administrator Mr. Michael Stack, Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., and Representative Ernest D. Wooton requesting their assistance on this matter.
