Proclamation: "National Day of Prayer"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, Christianity and the belief in Jesus Christ is the predominant religion in the United States, and one of the primary elements of that religion is prayer; and,
WHEREAS, Prayer is said to be responsible for solving the problems of the day, like wars and peace negotiations, and labor and government problems; and,
WHEREAS, Prayer provides the individual with a special, inner peace that comes from a direct communication with the Lord; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish believes that there should be a National Day of Prayer in the United States, whereby every citizen would be informed of the value of prayer and urged to pray on a regular basis.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY DECLARE THURSDAY, MAY 6, 2004, AS
"NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER"
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH, AND CALL UPON ALL CITIZENS OF THIS PARISH AND THE UNITED STATES TO RECOGNIZE THE BENEFIT OF PRAYER AND PRAY ON A REGULAR BASIS.
