ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL
ORDINANCE NO. 16-3-21
Title
An ordinance to adjust the compensation of the Constables and Justices of the Peace.
Body
WHEREAS, the current parish compensation for each Constable and Justice of the Peace is set at $7,652.84 per year; and,
WHEREAS, the state compensation for each Constable and Justice of the Peace is set at $1,200.00 per year; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish Council to increase their Parish compensation to $8,418.02 per year.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the annual Parish compensation of each Constable and Justice of the Peace is hereby set at $8,418.02 per year effective January 1, 2016.
SECTION II. That the annual compensation of each Constable and Justice of the Peace, as established herein, may be adjusted by the same percentage rate as the Cost of Living Adjustment as approved for Civil Service Employees in 2017 and each succeeding year thereafter, providing funding is approved in the annual Parish Consolidated Operating Budget.
SECTION III. That the 2016 Consolidated Annual Budget was amended prior to the adoption of this ordinance to include the 10% increase of the current 2015 salary for each Constable and Justice of the Peace.
The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
YEAS: BENEDETTO, HOGAN, CLULEE, GIBBS, WOODRUFF, BELLOCK, FLETCHER, FISHER-PERRIER
NAYS: NONE
ABSENT: WILSON
And the ordinance was declared adopted this 21st day of March , 2016 to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
