Title
A resolution supporting SB 126 as the bill would positively affect the workforce of the region and benefit the industries located in St. Charles Parish.

WHEREAS, SB 126 would create the TOPS-Tech Early Start Award which would allow students to utilize a TOPS scholarship to attend qualified technical institutions throughout Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, the industries located and planned along the River Region will require thousands of technically educated employees and the success of these industries relies on a prepared workforce; and,
WHEREAS, in order to create lasting economic impact for our communities it is imperative that local residents are hired to fill these technical jobs; and,
WHEREAS, a technical education prepares our residents to be "work ready" as the expected industrial boom in South Louisiana becomes a reality and jobs become available; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council, acting as the governing authority of the Parish of St. Charles desires to support SB 126 as the Council believes it to be in the best interest of the people and businesses of St. Charles.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby support SB 126 as the bill would positively affect St. Charles Parish by increasing opportunities for workforce development and improve the business climate of St. Charles and request the Parish President or his designee to take any actions necessary to achieve the spirit of this resolution.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
