Title
A resolution requesting a letter of strong support be sent to our Louisiana State Delegation in support of House Bill 55.
Body
WHEREAS, Representative Juan LaFonta has filed House Bill 55 for the upcoming Louisiana State Legislative Session; and,
WHEREAS, House Bill 55 is designed to prohibit the installation of sound amplification systems on the exterior of a vehicle, such as in the grille or undercarriage; and,
WHEREAS, House Bill 55 also prohibits a vehicle's horn from being “wired to make a sound other than the sound made by the manufactured, installed horn”; and,
WHEREAS, it is becoming faddish for cars to be modified with sound systems in grilles or undercarriage and to have music blaring from them as they travel the streets of the Parish, playing loud and obnoxious music and sound.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request a letter of strong support for House Bill 55, be sent to Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Ernest D. Wooton, and Representative Juan LaFonta.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be sent to the House Committee on Transportation, Highways, and Public Works.
