IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Mr. Barry Guillot and his wife Amber are residents of Luling, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish and are the proud parents of two sons Nicholas and Dylan; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Guillot is a 1991 Graduate of the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Arts, Elementary Education, and has been teaching for twelve years; eleven years at Harry Hurst Middle School in the Science Department; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Guillot is a Member of the St. Charles Parish Advisory Committee, National Service Learning Partnership Committee, Lt. Governors Learn and Serve America State Focus Committee, Louisiana Middle School Association, Louisiana Science Teachers Association, Louisiana Environmental Education Association, Gulf Coast Herpetological Society, and facilitates at the prestigious Keystone National Science Center; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Guillot has many accolades to his name: 2003 Louisiana Urban Forestry Council Educator Award, 2004 Gulf Guardian Individual Excellence Award, 2004 Gulf Guardian Youth Education Award, Governor's Keep Louisiana Beautiful Award to name a few; and,
WHEREAS, Wetland Watchers was awarded first place in the Youth Education Category, as a result of that recognition the Gulf of Mexico Foundation sponsored the production of a documentary on Wetland Watchers that has been distributed around the country. The George Lucas Education Foundation also chose Mr. Guillot and Wetland Watchers to feature in a video to demonstrate exemplary innovative education programming; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Guillot working together with Mr. Milton Cambre helped to facilitate the donation of a 28-acre parcel of land to St. Charles Parish that is mandated as the LaBranche Wetlands Scenic Area to be used as a park, picnic area, and natural trails; he is working with the Lt. Governor's O...
