IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Joseph Perilloux, Jr. was born the third child of seven in Montz, Louisiana, on July 5, 1921, to Clothilde Millet Perilloux and Joseph Perilloux, Sr. He moved to LaPlace after getting married; and,
WHEREAS, he married Inez Madere in 1940 and they were blessed with three sons, Ellis, Arlen, and Timmy; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Forsythe, Darlene Blake, Dana Fletcher, Rebecca Gr?aud, and Spencer Perilloux, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and,
WHEREAS, he was drafted into the Army at the age of 23 and trained for an invasion of Japan, which never happened. He was sent to the Philippines and from there to Japan, for the occupation of Japan. His service lasted nearly two years; and,
WHEREAS, he retired from GATX after 30 years, where he worked in the tank car repair division in Good Hope. He then went to work for Norco Construction where he did carpentry work. After retiring from Norco Construction around the age of 62, he helped his youngest son Timmy a great deal on his farm in Montz; and,
WHEREAS, he lives a very active lifestyle; he cooks, drives, cuts his own grass, pays bills, and goes to the grocery store three times a week. He was still picking vegetables at the age of 94, and still currently helps with small tasks. He helps the Destrehan High School baseball team clean hundreds of bunches of shallots for their annual fundraiser. He is very "old-school". He started in the stock market in 1995, he does not have a cell phone, only a home phone; and,
WHEREAS, Joseph celebrated his 100th birthday on July 3, 2021. He did not drive his own truck to his party because his family rented a 1931 Model A Ford limousine to escort him on his special day.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recogn...
