TRIBUTE
District V, Councilman LARRY COCHRAN is a longtime resident of St. Rose. He is married to Joy Borel, and they are the proud parents of three children, Larry, Taylor, and Madison.
Larry is a graduate of Destrehan High School, a member of the Oaklawn Ridge Estates Civic Association, and a Parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. He has worked as an Electrician and Network Technician for 23 years for the St. Charles Parish School Board. He has been a member of the St. Rose Volunteer Fire Department for over 26 years where he served as Chief for 17 of those years.
Larry is completing his second term in office. He was first elected to the Parish Council in 2007, taking office January 14, 2008, as District V, Councilman and ran unopposed and was re-elected to a second term in 2011.
Larry served as Council Chairman in 2012 and 2015 and Council Vice-Chairman in 2010 and 2013. He was Chairman of the Contract/Finance and Administrative Committee for four terms, was a member of the Operations, Maintenance, and Construction Management Committee Legislative Committee Special Projects/Public Safety, Health, and Environmental Committee, and the Hurricane Protection Projects Committee.
Larry served as Ex-Officio for the Planning & Zoning Commission for four years and served as Ex-Officio for the Housing Authority for one year. He filled the unexpired term on the Community Action Advisory Board as the Public Official appointment for two years, served a term on the St. Charles Parish Retiree Benefits Funding Trust-Board of Trustees, was Chairman of the Ferry Disaster Monument Committee, served four one-year terms as a member of the River Region Caucus, and also served two one-year terms as an Alternate member of the River Region Caucus.
