IN RECOGNITION

WHEREAS, Mr. Milton Cambre and his wife Kathleen are residents of Norco, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish and they are the proud parents of four children and seven wonderful grandchildren; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Cambre is a graduate of Lutcher High School, a retiree of Dupont, has represented the citizens of District VI as their Constable for the past eighteen years, has served on the Coastal Zone Advisory Committee as Chairman from its inception, and served as an original Board Member of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Cambre, an Environmental Activist, has been working to preserve the LaBranche Wetlands for the past 30 to 40 years; for the past six to seven years working along side with Mr. Barry Guillot and middle school students; and,
WHEREAS, The Parish Council formally accepted a donation for a 28-acre parcel of land in the LaBranche Wetlands which includes a nature trail used by environmentalists to give student tours; the donation of the land will allow wetlands advocates and St. Charles Parish to apply for grants and dramatically improve the condition of the trail and the extent of their preservation efforts; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Cambre originally created the nature trail with pieces of wood washed up from the Lake to serve as makeshift bridges; he now intends to hire AmeriCorps workers or other volunteers to improve the trail for public access; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Cambre has won several Local, State, and National awards for his continued efforts in saving the LaBranche Wetlands, including #387 of 1000 Points of Light recognized by Past President George H. W. Bush; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Cambre's activities and hobbies include spending time at his camp in Cocodrie fishing and trawling with his family, saving the LaBranche Wetlands and creating a...
