IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Detective Sergeant Rodney Madere, Jr. and his wife Niki are residents of Destrehan, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish and they are the proud parents of two children Kaleb, 13 years old and Megan, 9 years old; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Sergeant Madere is a graduate of Rummel High School, has a B.A. in Criminal Justice from LSU, is a 12 year Veteran with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, and is assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Sergeant Madere is a Supervisor of Detectives, handles Police related shootings and criminal investigation of any wrong doing of a deputy; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Sergeant Madere is certified in lie detection, member of the High Risk Entry Team, certified trainer and a diver on the Search and Rescue Team; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Sergeant Madere has numerous awards to his credit, he has been Deputy of the month twice, has six letters of commendation, two unit citations, and three distinguished letters; and,
WHEREAS, among Detective Sergeant Madere's highest honors would be Deputy of the Year 2002, an honor received during the Christmas shopping seasons when he foiled a robbery and possible hostage situation by his “quick action, cool head and his execution of duty” captured an extremely dangerous felon without any harm to victims, bystanders, and other officers; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Sergeant Madere placed himself in harm's way disarming and subduing the suspect after a brief struggle, sustaining a broken bone in his hand, affected the arrest and recovered all of the stolen merchandise.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
