Title
A resolution to adopt and authorize the implementation of the 2002 Strategic Plan SCOPE-St. Charles Overall Planning Effort.
Body
WHEREAS, on October 9, 2000, the St. Charles Parish Council approved Ordinance No. 00-10-10, authorizing the Parish President to execute an agreement with the South Central Planning and Development Commission and the University of New Orleans for the implementation of a Strategic Plan for St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, since that time, many St. Charles Parish residents, along with local business, civic, and social leaders volunteered their time and effort to participate in the strategic planning process; and,
WHEREAS, the participants in the planning process conducted community self-assessments, formulated goals and objectives, developed strategies essential to achieving each goal and objective, named individuals, groups and agencies responsible for executing individual action items or tasks and assigned deadlines for accomplishing each step; and,
WHEREAS, the plan, now referred to as the SCOPE, is intended to be a living document that will guide St. Charles Parish through the next five (5) years; and,
WHEREAS, this final draft of the SCOPE is endorsed by the St. Charles Economic Development Council and the River Area Council Executive Committee of the New Orleans Regional Chamber of Commerce.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby approve and authorize the implementation of the 2002 Strategic Plan SCOPE-St. Charles Overall Planning Effort.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the St. Charles Parish Council and Parish President urge all public and private institutions, all factions of our community and each and every individual resident, to join together under the SCOPE and work toward achieving the goals set forth...
