Title
A resolution requesting the U. S. Postal Service change the zip code for the Town of Montz, Louisiana from 70068 to 70079, the existing zip code of Norco, Louisiana.
Body
WHEREAS, the Postal Service for the Town of Montz, Louisiana located in St. Charles Parish, is presently served out of the LaPlace, Louisiana post office located in St. John the Baptist Parish; and,
WHEREAS, receiving mail from one parish and living in another parish does cause confusion; and,
WHEREAS, the location of the LaPlace post office presents a hardship for many of our travel challenged citizens who have to travel two major highways in order to reach the LaPlace post office; and,
WHEREAS, Montz residents pay a higher insurance rate due to utilizing the St. John the Baptist Parish zip code; and,
WHEREAS, in the wake of Hurricane Ida, and the unknown insurance increases, the residents of Montz could have to absorb a substantial increase utilizing the St. John the Baptist Parish zip code.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request the U. S. Postal Service change the zip code for the Town of Montz, Louisiana from 70068 to 70079, the existing zip code of Norco, Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLEVED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Senator William "Bill" Cassidy, Senator John Kennedy, Representative Troy Carter, Representative Garret Graves, Senator Gary L. Smith, Jr., Senator Edward "Ed" Price, Representative Gregory A. Miller, Representative Randal L. Gaines, and the U. S. Postal Service Administrative Division requesting their support in this endeavor.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
