IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Coach Marty Luquet and his wife Lori Lyons Luquet are residents of Norco, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish and they are the proud parents of three; Daniel, Courtney and Lora Leigh Luquet, and;
WHEREAS, Coach Luquet, 2002 Coach of the Year, is a native of New Orleans an former player at UNO, and;
WHEREAS, Coach Luquet in his first year as Head Coach of Destrehan High School and his 12th year of coaching lead his Wildcat Baseball Team to an undefeated district record, a district championship and a spot in the quarterfinals in the state playoffs, and;
WHEREAS, Coach Luquet was quoted as saying "This bunch of renegades just came out of nowhere," "I knew that we would be good, but nobody knew we'd be this good," and;
WHEREAS, Coach Luquet's Destrehan Wildcat Team finished with an overall season record of 24-7 with a consecutive 18 game winning streak. They were the District 6-5A champions with a 14-0 record, the first undefeated district championship for Destrehan High since 1965, and;
WHEREAS, Coach Luquet's Wildcats defeated during regular season, Rummel, Slidell, Hahnville and Denham Springs. The Wildcats beat Brother Martin, 6-3 in bi-district playoffs and Mandeville, 9-6 in the regional playoffs, advancing to the quarterfinals and the Louisiana High School Athletic Associations' Class 5A State Tournament for the first time in school history. The Destrehan Wildcats ended their season on May 10, 2002, as undefeated District Champs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
