Title
A resolution to re-commission The Civic Center Committee to up-date and make recommendations on the feasibility of a Civic Center for St. Charles Parish.
Body
WHEREAS, the original Civic Center Committee, created by Resolution No. 3612, on April 15, 1991, was abolished on January 24, 2000; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish has no facility large enough to accommodate large gatherings for events such as business trade shows; and,
WHEREAS, there is a need for a facility to accommodate a variety of events hosted by major industries located in St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, there are a number of groups and organizations in St. Charles Parish who could utilize a facility such as a Civic Center to host events instead of traveling to other areas; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 01-1-18 on January 22, 2001, which approved and authorized the execution of an Act of Onerous Donation by Esperanza Land Company of Tract 4 B, a certain 33.98 acre tract of land located at Ashton Plantation in Luling, for the design and construction of a parish multi-purpose indoor complex; and,
WHEREAS, an access road to the local school development and necessary infrastructure, roads, lighting, and railroad crossings will be in place; and,
WHEREAS, the State Representatives and Senators are committed to fund the system under a capitol improvement funding of the State of Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, a Civic Center would be a boost to the continued progress and Economic Development of St. Charles Parish.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby re-commission The Civic Center Committee to up-date and make recommendations on the feasibility of a Civic Center for St. Charles Parish.
