IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Edward Earl Reed, Jr., a resident of St. Rose, Graduated from Destrehan High School in 1997 and was named District Most Valuable Defensive Player; and,
WHEREAS, Edward, a Miami Hurricane, was named Freshman All-American by Football News and Sporting News; and,
WHEREAS, Edward, a Jim Thorpe Award Candidate was a pre-season Second Team All-America by Football News, and a pre-season First Team All-Big East Selection by the Sporting News; and,
WHEREAS, Edward ranked as the Nation's Number Four Strong Safety by the Sporting News pre-season preview, started 34 of 35 games at Miami, and finished the season ranked third in the NCAA; and,
WHEREAS, Edward was named a First-Team All-American by the Football Writers Association; and,
WHEREAS, on May 11, 2001, Edward graduated from the University of Miami in Liberal Arts and will be returning in the fall of 2001 continuing his education taking graduate courses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
EDWARD EARL REED, JR.
