IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Sheriff Greg Champagne and his wife Alice are residents of Luling Louisiana in St. Charles Parish and are the proud parents of two children; Rochelle and Gregory, Jr.; and,
WHEREAS, Since taking office in July 1996, Sheriff Champagne has overseen enhanced deputy training, the opening of a 600-bed correctional center and implemented a number of programs designed to assist victims of crime; and,
WHEREAS, The Louisiana Crime Victims' Coalition is a coalition comprised of three crime victims organizations: Common Sense Against Crime (CSAC), Crimefighters, and Louisiana Women Against Crime (LWAC); and,
WHEREAS, The Louisiana Crime Victims' Coalition is the largest victims rights organization in the State of Louisiana and represents approximately 11,500 members throughout the State; and,
WHEREAS, According to the Coalition's President, they select the outstanding judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement officials who go above and beyond the call of duty to help victims; and,
WHEREAS, The selection was made after reviewing the accomplishments of all 65 Sheriffs in Louisiana.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
GREG CHAMPAGNE
SHERIFF OF THE YEAR
"PARISH OF PLENTY"
created in 1807 from the county of the
"German Coast", a parish of
unprecedented economic and social
development, known for its
hospitality, rural living and sporting
opportunitiesÂ… with the added
distinction of being located
on both sides of the
