IN MEMORIAM
WHEREAS, on August 4, 2013, the Almighty God, in His Infinite Wisdom, has seen fit to call from among us one of His most worthy servants, St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Garrett Watson; and,
WHEREAS, Deputy Watson, a seven year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, was killed in a traffic accident at the age of 41 while responding to another deputy's call for assistance; and,
WHEREAS, Deputy Watson was driving north on Paul Maillard Road in Luling with his patrol unit's lights on, when a motorist pulled into his path, resulting in a collision that caused his death and injuries to two others; and,
WHEREAS, Deputy Watson was a resident of Destrehan who for 12 years, dedicated his life to law enforcement with the St. Charles and Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Offices; and,
WHEREAS, Deputy Watson was the fourth deputy to give his life in the line of duty in the 200-year history of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office; and,
WHEREAS, Deputy Watson is survived by his beloved wife Lynsey Parker Watson and stepdaughter Abrial, his parents Becky Cummings Watson, Harry W. Watson, and James F. Byl.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, duly assembled on this 18th day of November, 2013, do hereby express our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of
DEPUTY JEFF GARRETT WATSON
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Deputy Watson's sacrifice in the course of protecting the people of St. Charles Parish be forever remembered by our community and that he and his family have the heartfelt thanks and deepest sympathy from every resident of St. Charles Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a page in the Official Minute Book of the St. Charles Parish Council be set aside to record this Memoriam and when this Meeting is adjourned, it shall be done in memory of DEPUTY ...
