Title
An Emergency Ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a contract with Shread-Kuyrkendall & Associates, Inc. for the Emergency Waterline Replacement, Highway 90 to Ama.
Body
WHEREAS, the existing 10” waterline located north of Hwy. 90 connecting to Ama has numerous leaks and is beyond repair; and,
WHEREAS, due to the condition of the existing waterline, it has become necessary to take the waterline out of service; and,
WHEREAS, the loss of the waterline requires emergency replacement to provide fire protection and for consumption; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Administration and Department of Waterworks contacted Shread-Kuyrkendall & Associates, Inc. to provide emergency engineering services to replace the waterline, acquire permits, and to provide all necessary services to complete this project; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish Council and the Parish President to expedite the completion of this project as soon as possible; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 1, Section 2-12 (IV)(d) of the St. Charles Parish Code an Emergency Ordinance is the appropriate method to approve an emergency contract for Engineering Services.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the adoption of this Ordinance is an emergency action taken in accordance with Chapter 2, Section 2-12 (IV)(d) of the St. Charles Parish Code.
SECTION II. That the contract for the Emergency Water-line replacement Hwy. 90 to Ama by and between Shread-Kuyrkendall & Associates, Inc. and St. Charles Parish is hereby approved.
SECTION III. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of St. Charles Parish.
