Title
An ordinance to change the name of Sugarland Parkway in Luling to Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway.
Body
WHEREAS, on January 21, 2003 the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 03-1-5 approving the Dedication of Sugarland Parkway and on October 16, 2006 the Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 06-10-16 approving the extension of Sugarland Parkway by Esperanza Land Company, LLC in Luling; and,
WHEREAS, Esperanza Land Company, LLC, a company owned by the family of Judge Edward August Dufresne, Jr., donated thirty-four acres of land for public use along said Parkway, which is the site of the Sheriff's Office Complex and the site on which the new Community Center will be built; and,
WHEREAS, in recognition of over forty-six years of public service to the citizens of St. Charles Parish by Judge Edward August Dufresne, Jr., Chief Judge of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the 29th Judicial District Court of the State of Louisiana, Clerk of Court of St. Charles Parish and Chairman of the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter Commission, it is the desire of the Parish Council and the Parish President to honor his life of public service and many civic contributions by changing the name of Sugarland Parkway to Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That “Sugarland Parkway” in Luling is hereby renamed “Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway” in honor of his over forty-six years of dedicated public service and the many civic c...
